Want to List Your Space on Listings Project? Here’s Where to Start

Welcome to the community! If you are reading this, you’ve likely found Listings Project through a friend or loved one, while browsing for a good platform, or by seeing us on social media, and you want to understand who we are and how to use Listings Project.

This guide will help you get the lay of the land: from our community values to practical information you need to know to post your real estate listing on Listings Project.

What is Listings Project?

Listings Project is a global community offering free and equitable access to carefully vetted real estate and job opportunities.

We’re independent, community-backed, woman-owned, and B-Corp® certified, which, in summary, means we are committed to continuously advancing our work as a force for communal good.

Our history starts small: our founder, Stephanie Diamond, emailed her peers over 20 years ago asking for housing leads, with no idea how much it would grow. From a list of real estate opportunities shared with her peers to one shared with hundreds, then hundreds of thousands of people—how Listings Project came to be is a fascinating story. You can learn more about it here.

When You Think of Listings Project

What are Listings Project’s Community Agreements, and why do they matter?

Our Community Agreements are foundational to our work. They are the guiding stars for how our community and our team operate and interact with each other.

Listings Project’s Community Agreements are founded on our six values:

  • Equity: Provide equal access to opportunities and resources.

  • Transparency: Communicate clearly, openly, and honestly.

  • Accountability: Take responsibility for actions, behaviors, language, and impact.

  • Collective Care: Take care of yourself so you can care for and serve your community.

  • Justice: Uphold fair systems and practices so everyone can fully participate.

  • Joy: Be open to surprises and delights in every interaction.

We ask that all Listers in our community, whether posting a listing, browsing, or responding to listings, hold themselves accountable to our Community Agreements.

Kate

What happens after you submit your Listings Project listing?

The vetting process

After filling out our form to submit your Real Estate listing, our team will personally review it to ensure it follows Listings Project’s Community Agreements, vetting for inclusive language, fair pricing, and more.

Our Listers value the personal connection we bring to the table, which is why we have real eyes on every listing (you heard that right, no AI here) and take our vetting process very seriously. You can read more about our Real Estate vetting process here.

If we have any questions or need additional information, we will reach out to you directly via email for clarification on your listing. Throughout this process, we recommend keeping a close eye on your inbox! Your participation and collaboration with our team are critical in making sure we can get your listing approved as soon as possible.

You’ll receive a confirmation email once the vetting process is finalized, and your listing is ready to be published on Wednesday.

Getting responses from Listers

After your listing is vetted and approved, it will go live on our site on Wednesday at 8 AM ET for our community to see.

Fellow Listers will reach out directly to you, based on the contact information you provided. If you provided an email address, expect to receive inquiries directly in your inbox. In your Listings Project’s account, you’ll also be able to view emails from those who have reached out to you about your listing, which can be really helpful for record-keeping.

Managing your published listing and staying in the loop

There are various steps you can take after your listing has been posted. You can:

  • Remove your listing before it expires if you’ve found the right match

  • Respond to incoming inquiries and plan out next steps with fellow Listers

  • Repost your listing if you are still looking for the right fit

But it doesn’t have to end there! Listings Project is a pathway to finding your space and your people at any stage of your life. Our community stretches across all 50 states and over 200 countries! We hope that when the time comes for you to seek your next home or job opportunity, you know our community is always here for you.
