PLEASE NOTE: PET CARE REQUIRED FOR THIS SUBLET

Spacious one bedroom/one bath apartment on Miracle Mile (Wilshire/La Brea) in Central Los Angeles available for two weeks, discounted rent in exchange for thoughtful care of one calico cat who will mostly want nothing to do with you (don't take it personally) and watering the plants once. I will have the apartment professionally cleaned before I leave/have clean sheets on the bed and I will expect the same before I get back, I will put you in touch with my cleaner ($150). All other utilities are included.

YOU ARE...
A single person. Quiet. Thoughtful. Tidy. Grown. Not looking to have lots of guests over. Enjoys taking good care of your space. Genuine love for cats, even the stand-offish ones. No other pets (sorry, non-negotiable). PLEASE READ: If you're interested in reaching out, please start by telling me about yourself and send me some social media/Linked-In/website/etc links for verification, and/or some kind of reference. I'll prioritize responding to folks who give me a sense of who they are.

THE APARTMENT...
Is really lovely, but I’m biased. Huge french windows in every room, tons of light, high ceilings with hand-painted stencils on exposed wood beams (living room), and picture frame molding (bedroom). Second floor, 8 unit building. A great desk that is motorized--can be standing or sitting height. More books than you could possibly want or need--read at will. A queen-size bed with Helix mattress and plenty of soft bedding. Moody lighting in the form of café lights hung in the living room and lamps with dimmers throughout. TV in bedroom. I like to cook and to bake, so there is no shortage of kitchen supplies and staples (no dishwasher).

Alas, there is no laundry in the building... however there's a great laundromat a short drive away, and a place where you can drop laundry off for a wash/fold service that is two blocks away. There's also a pick up/delivery service I highly recommend which is of course a little more expensive, but extremely convenient. This is an old building and therefore sound travels easily. My neighbors are quiet and respectful, and I'm looking for someone who is the same.

There is the potential for an off-street parking spot, but we'll need to discuss that.

THE CAT...
Is a beautiful weirdo. She will mostly keep to herself, but I would like to find someone who's willing to make the effort to befriend her. Your duties will be: feeding her wet food twice a day; rinsing and refreshing her water bowl; scooping her litter; administering a medication via pill pocket; etc.

THE HOUSEPLANTS...
Are abundant. I'll aim to water right before I leave so you'd only need to do this once.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD...
Is a great balance of quiet but walkable--very central, full of beautiful old art deco buildings and jacaranda trees. Being tucked between Third and Wilshire, you have the best of both worlds--peaceful one-way block, but there is bustle nearby if you want it. You're a five minute walk from multiple grocery stores (Target, Trader Joe's, Ralph's, CVS, and Lassen's), a great hot yoga studio, many restaurants, cafes, and shops, etc. You'd be perfectly happy without a car here.

About This Lister

I work from home as a novelist and this space is very precious to me (as is the cat). I'm looking for someone who will take good care of both while I am away at a residency.
