POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Art Omi is looking for a full-time temporary Co-Lead Teacher for Artgarten, an arts-based summer day program for ages 4 and 5. The Co-Lead Teacher is responsible for organizing and coordinating the daily schedule and activities for 15 preschool-aged children. This position works in collaboration with the Co-Teacher and Creative Director, who is responsible for designing and leading the program’s art project component. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic, energetic environment and must possess a depth of knowledge in early childhood development.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Working in collaboration with Art Omi: Education Director and Assistant Director to develop and implement six weeks of curriculum for ages 4-5 with a focus on experiential learning, sensory development, and creative expression.
- Collaborating with Artgarten’s creative director to incorporate art activities and projects.
- Developing and implementing a daily schedule that is engaging and age appropriate.
- Organizing and maintaining a space that is inclusive, inspiring, and conducive to learning.
- Managing and overseeing two studio assistants and at least one student volunteer.
- Leading all daily activities, including walks in the Sculpture & Architecture Park, transitions, snack and lunch periods, morning and afternoon meetings, swimming (lifeguard present), and general maintenance of the camp environment.
- Daily communication with parents.
- Implementing safety protocols and following procedures related to risk management, child behavior, and general health and wellness.

Qualified candidates will possess innovative philosophies and methodologies in early childhood play-based learning and discovery as well as strong child management, leadership, and communication skills. We are looking for individuals who are energetic, passionate, proactive, hardworking, and steadfastly committed to the care, development, and success of each child.

A successful candidate will have:
- 3+ years (or seasons) of teaching experience with preschool-aged children.
- An ability to develop and implement daily activities for children ages 4 and 5.
- Strong classroom management, child management, and childcare skills.
- Stamina to work in an energetic environment with children of all ages.
- Excellent parent communication
- A commitment to teamwork and collaboration.

Successful candidates must be 18 years or older, and provide their own local housing and daily transportation.

Candidates will also demonstrate a commitment to Art Omi’s mission, to working to advance its position within the field, and an ability to advocate effectively for the organization and its goals in professional and social setting

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Artgarten occurs outdoors at the Education Pavilions and under a large, anchored tent with built-in flooring . The program runs rain or shine during the summer months and, as such, the weather may be hot, humid, wet, and/or cold. This is a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment that can be physically demanding, messy, noisy, and crowded at times. The position requires traversing and interacting with nature. Some public and/or parent/guardian interaction is required.

- Seasonal, Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, June 22 through August 7 (except July 3rd)
- Flexible start date between June 22 - June 26

COMPENSATION:
- $25 per hour
