POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Art Omi is seeking project-based art handlers, periodically assisting throughout the year with a broad range of exhibition and maintenance work including installations, deinstallations, surface treatments, and carpentry. Experience in handling fine art objects is required; outdoor working experience is a plus.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Art handlers will work directly with the Preparator to install and deinstall gallery exhibitions and to install and maintain outdoor installations in the Sculpture and Architecture Park. Ideal candidates work well as part of a team, are thoughtful and diligent with tasks, and are mindful of the safety of artworks and of fellow team members.

Tasks may include, but are not limited to:
- Installing and de-installing artwork in gallery and storage;
- Loading/unloading trucks; moving crated/packed works throughout the galleries and storage; moving equipment and supplies around the park;
- Packing/unpacking artwork for shipment and storage;
- Preparing gallery for display/exhibition by spackling, sanding, painting, cleaning, etc.;
- Assist with fabrication and installation of temporary walls, platforms, pedestals, labels, and other exhibition display materials;
- Landscaping outdoor sites for new installations and maintenance of existing sites;
- Care and cleaning of outdoor sculptures and signage.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience handling artworks in museum or gallery settings;
- A friendly and professional demeanor, with an ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Punctual, dependable, and organized, with attention to detail;
- Proficiency in operating hand tools, power tools, and other machinery; comfort working on ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts;
- A willingness to work in an outdoor environment in a variety of weather conditions.
- Carpentry and AV skills are a plus; experience operating forklift, pallet jack, scissor lift equipment is appreciated, though not required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
What follows is a general description of expectations for the work environment. We are open to making modifications to support people of all abilities whenever feasible.

This work environment includes working outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat and sun in the summer, cooler temperatures in the fall and winter, and occasionally indoors in air conditioning and heated interiors during gallery installations throughout the year. The position will use a variety of tools and equipment, including power tools, and may entail driving a golf cart to installation sites. The position requires close attention to detail, and may require lifting of various materials (50lbs and under). The noise level in the work environment is moderate and occasionally noisy.

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION:
- Schedule seasonal and variable based on project needs
- Compensation: $22-26 per hour
