This 1920s furnished townhouse is located on a pedestrian street in a quiet, green leafy neighborhood of other townhouses of the same style and period. For those interested in architecture the immediate neighborhood is a living museum.
I have always thought of it as my country house in the city. Listen to the sounds of birds rather than cars. It is perfect for a single person or couple looking to spend time in Madrid while carrying on with remote work or writing projects.
There a comfortable living room with fireplace for the cooler months, an equipped kitchen and an office that looks out on the delightful patio with a 26in HP display that I will leave. There is a guest toilet on the gound floor. The bedroom is on the first floor and has a walk in closet and an in suite bathroom. The house is 1185 square feet/ 110 square meters.
The house also has its own outside spaces adding approximately 100 usuable sqaure meters (1075 sf) to the property. There is a ground level patio and a large, first floor terrace off the bedroom with plants, table and a hammock, which can be used as your second office and for unwinding. There is a low mantenance inside/outside cat who will need to be cared for.
The rental includes high speed internet, utilities, bedding, towels and a cleaner.
A municipal sports center with swimming pool, tennis courts etc. is literally a 5 minute walk away. Next to it there is a bike station for the city electric bike rentals that can be used with an app. I use them regularly as they are the fastest way to get around the city.
Otherwise, you can reach the center of Madrid in about 20 minutes by metro or bus. Taxis are also readily available.
Since commercial life in Madrid is still very neighborhood oriented everything you might need is within walking distance.
I am originally from New York and have lived in Madrid for over 25 years. I first came here while conducting research for my doctoral dissertation in anthropology, which focused on the cultural history of 19th-century Havana, Cuba. After defending my dissertation, I worked in Madrid for the World Health Organization, taught at U.S. universities based here, and in 2006, I founded a Montessori school for children aged 18 months to 12 years. Since 2018, I have been working as a consultant in the education sector.
My library reflects my eclectic interests in social and cultural theory, Latin American history, urbanism, feminism, anthropology, psychology, and education. I also have a small collection of cookbooks and photography books.
I would describe myself as clean and tidy, though not a neat freak. I have a good relationship with my neighbors, and a few of them speak English, which can be helpful if you arrive with limited Spanish.
I am looking for someone, or a couple, who will live in my home, enjoy it and care for it as I do.

Please tell me bit about yourself and reason for wanting to spend time in Madrid.
If there seems to be synergy, we can have a video call.
Rental requirements:

I am open to proposals for shorter term stays, although the price will be $1000/week for rentals of less than 3 months. Security deposit will be set in relationship to the rental period. For ease, I am listing the price in dollars, but will need to receive payment in Euros.
