Maria's journey began in her native Peru where she comes from a family owned business Mejias Corporation. Maria Mejia now heads her own production studio and works as a multi-skilled Patternmaker and Designer. As assistant professor and majoring in Accessories design she has firmly set her career, with much knowledge and experience in the U.S. Leather Fashion Industry and she work 17 years in Fashion Institute Technology of the University of New York

I worked in factories making shoes and handbags and aprol before working at the University of FIT.
I had the opportunity to work at the Fashion Institute of Technology of New York University. FIT I have been working there for 17 years, helping my students build and design shoes and handbags.
