Looking for a sublet in Brooklyn Sept 1 - Dec 17th-ish. I’m open to longer after a trial period.
I’m moving to NYC to start an MFA in creative writing at The New School and am looking for a sublet for the first semester as I get my feet underneath me and orient to NYC.
I’m a 35 y/o Black queer woman who currently lives in Oakland, CA. I’m a writer who started & manages The Lupine Collaborative, a literary organization for Black women, transgender, and non-binary climate & environmental writers. I love books, food, people, flowers, riding bikes, and the public library summer reading challenges. I love to travel and do so frequently both for work and personally.
I am pretty clean and am attached to the aesthetic of a home because it's where I get to rest/unravel -- in practice that means my space is clean, things have a place, and there are often flowers around. I don't know a ton about NYC but I would like to live in a neighborhood that is good to walk in and is accessible to the trains to get to The New School in Greenwich Village.
An ideal sublet would be a 1-bedroom solo or a shared apartment with one other person with a max of $2100/month for rent. I have a partner who lives on the West Coast and would visit occasionally but am looking to move in alone. I am very social outside of the house and value solitude at home, but would enjoy having friendly/social rapport with a housemate. Unfortunately allergic to cats but open to living with a dog. I love a sunny space and lots of windows.
