We are seeking two housemates who want to join a coop in a very spacious 4BR apartment in Crown Heights. Looking for clean, courteous folks who value cooperative living and do not just want to split the rent.

### The room

* We are looking to sublet two rooms starting March 1. The rent is $1150 or 1250 per month (based on room size).

* All rooms have large windows and lots of sunlight, are big enough for a full or queen-sized bed, dressers, desk, and also have a closet. The bedrooms are unfurnished.

### The apartment

* This apartment is located one block away from Franklin Avenue S/2/3/4/5 train lines and various bus lines. Near Brooklyn Museum, Botanic Gardens, Prospect Park, and Grand Army Plaza. There are lots of great restaurants nearby on Franklin ave, Classon, Nostrand, etc.

* This is a completely gut renovated unit in a 6-story building. It is a large prewar building (high ceilings!) with a live-in super and laundry room.

* Shared spaces include an open plan kitchen, large living/dining room, and bathrooms. The living room is large and sunny and can be used to hang out and host social events.

* This coop is queer and trans friendly.
* International folks welcome.
* No pets (we’re allergic to both cats and dogs).

### Next steps

* First month's rent + security deposit is due up front.

* The room is available as a six month sublet to start but we are looking for someone with an interest in joining the lease in the long term. If everything works out, which I am sure it will, we will renew the sublet and then add you to the lease once it turns over.

About This Lister

Jessamyn (she/her): My name is Jessamyn, and I’m a 33-year-old lawyer at a labor union. I’ve lived in Brooklyn for several years and met Greg through book club about nine years ago. I work in the office five days a week on a standard 9–5 schedule. I’m often out and about in the evenings, but when I’m at home, I’ve lately been enjoying the coziness of our Christmas décor while crocheting and watching the current season of The Great British Bake Off.

I value community and living in a home that feels comfortable and intentional. For example, I’m looking for the type of person who would happily join me and our neighbors at the Tenants Association’s potluck and lobby decorating party. We’re not looking for a house where everyone is social all the time, but rather one where there’s an easy balance between shared time and individual space.

Greg (he/him): I am a 35 year old software developer and recently moved back to NYC from Colorado (needed some outdoors after COVID). Originally from Ukraine but grew up in Brooklyn and have lived in cooperative housing arrangements most of my life. I prefer board games to crazy drinking parties and enjoy skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer. I am a big reader and am part of a long-running sci-fi book club which will meet in the apartment on occasion.

I enjoy hosting fun social events, including potlucks, board game nights, film screenings, and aforementioned book club, and would love for you to be into joining! I would like to host more things, so bring your ideas. However, if you are looking for a party house this would likely not be a good fit.
