Hi there! Want to live in the city but feel like you're living upstate? This is the place to be! The view shown in the photo is the view from all of the windows in the apartment - it is of Inwood Hill Park and the Hudson River. There are several playing fields and open lawns in the park, and many hiking trails up in the woods. Inwood is a homey, diverse, friendly neighborhood with lots of families and artists.
I am renting out the second bedroom in my top-floor apartment, where I live with my calm, sweet, little dog (see photo). My current roommate is moving out, so you'll see her things in the photo, but the furniture is mine and comes with the room (*except the bookcase). It is a corner room, with three windows on two sides (so it has tons of light, and comes with black-out curtains).
The monthly price of the room INCLUDES wifi, gas, electric, and shared household items (soap, toilet paper, water and air filters, cleaning supplies, etc) that I take care of managing.
There is a large smart TV in the living room (hidden behind a curtain when not in use) and some home-gym equipment. In the kitchen, there are all of the usual tools as well as an air-fryer/toaster oven, pressure cooker, and Vitamix. The kitchen and bathroom were renovated with new appliances just before I moved in a few years ago.
The apartment is on the top floor of a quiet, neighborly building. There is a laundry room in the basement, an elevator, and a live-in super.
In addition to being located right next to Inwood Hill Park, there's a cafe and waterfront with benches one block away (see photo, taken at dusk).
Within a 10min walk are:
- The A and 1 subways
- The BxM1 and Bx7 buses
- Local grocery stores, wine/liquor shops, pharmacies, gyms, and restaurants
- The New York-Presbyterian Allen hospital
Within a 20min walk:
- Fort Tryon Park (and the Heather Garden inside of it)
- The Met Cloisters
- The Metro North train line that runs along the Hudson River
Other locations (by public transportation):
- 30min to Midtown and Central Park
- 45min to the West Village
- 5min to Columbia University's Inwood campus and 20min to the main campus
- 40min to Fordham University, Lehman College, the New York Botanical Garden, the Bronx Zoo, and Wave Hill Botanical Garden
- 45min drive to Harriman State Park (for those who like to get out of the city once in a while, you can be out of NYC in 10min by car!)
I like to keep a peaceful and clean home, and I am looking for someone who prioritizes the same things.
My dog sheds very little, and is very snuggly and friendly with humans (he will be happy to keep to himself unless you invite him to snuggle, which he will also love). While he is great with most dogs, no other pets are allowed.
I am a cisgender female in my mid-30s and use she/her pronouns. I work M-F outside of the apartment during the day, and am generally early-to-bed, early-to-rise for work (horticulture). I spend most weekday evenings walking my dog, going to the gym, cooking dinner, hanging out with neighbor-friends, and reading or working on a craft project. I am usually out on weekends and at least one night during the week. I am liberal, friendly, laid-back, and I have several friends in the neighborhood (who you would certainly meet!). I have lived in Inwood for almost a decade, and I love it here! The park is gorgeous, the apartment is amazing, and my neighbors are the best :)
I am the current tenant and lease-holder.
