This apartment is a really unique space, and very special to me. It has 3 walls of exposed brick and huge windows, very light-filled. It's on a quiet corner in Red Hook -- there's some action during working hours of the day, and it gets very quiet at night. (Very easy to park your car if that's something you need to do.) There are only 4 units in this building and my neighbors are all friendly.
The furniture layout will be streamlined before you move in! I'll be taking some of it with me to a temporary residence.
The apartment is a studio, so all one room (except for the bathroom.) The kitchen is minimal but it has everything you need. I have a portable washing machine (no dryer) and hang dry my clothes.
There's roof access and we have a mini garden up there. If you go up to enjoy an afternoon beer or something you'll probably bump into my neighbors doing the same!
My space is 2 blocks from the waterfront, also 2 blocks from VanBrunt street and all the bars / restaurants etc that Red Hook has to offer. Walking the length of my street brings you down to Valentino Pier. Neighborhood faves are Sunny's bar, Strong Rope Brewery (great waterfront / sunset views), Hometown BBQ, and The Good Fork restaurant.
It's about a 15min walk to the Smith/9th subway station where you can catch the F or G trains, or a quick bus ride. Bus stops are right outside or a block and a half away, depending on where you're going. There's a flight of stairs to get into the building, and keypad entry outside.
These dates are flexible! Would be open to either the full 6 months or a portion of that time, but would prioritize stays of more than a couple weeks. Open to thoughtful singles or couples and pets!
I'm a low-key creative type -- never met a craft project I didn't like. I love Red Hook because it's chill, industrial, crafty, and full of interesting people.
I'm a tidy person and obsessive about design, and my apartment reflects that. The rooftop herb garden is my pet project, it's a little oasis amidst the city!
I'll ask for first month + deposit up front, and will do a sublet contract. I'm happy to have you drop by to see the space or meet in person if you're in town.
All pets are allowed by landlord, and we are a very dog friendly building. I'm happy to consider all pets, as long as they are well-behaved and won't destroy my furniture! Tell me a little about yours!
