I'm renting out the second bedroom in my 2 BR / 1 bath apartment in Bed Stuy (close to the Clinton Hill / Bed Stuy border). The room is available as of February 1 for three months with the possibility of extending on a month-to-month basis. Rent is $1050/month, which includes everything.
About the apartment and bedroom:
-Floor-through apartment with lovely natural light
-Third-floor walk-up
-Open plan common space, which is fully furnished
-The common space faces the street, while both bedrooms face the backyard
-The available bedroom fits a full bed, a dresser, and, depending on the specs, a desk or shelves
-The bedroom is not furnished
-Pets: there is one (very sweet) foster cat; the apartment unfortunately can't accommodate any more pets
About the building:
-Owner-occupied building on a quiet one-way street
-The owner and her family live on the garden and first floors, and two other tenants live on the second floor
-Everyone is cordial and friendly
About the neighborhood:
-A five-minute walk to either the Bed-Nos G or the Myrtle-Willoughby G with several bus lines nearby
-Lots of great coffee shops, restaurants, and bars nearby
-Only a five-minute walk from Herbert von King Park
-Brooklyn Public Library branch right around the corner
-Multiple laundromats in easy walking distance
I'm Laura (she/her). I'm a consumer protection lawyer in my mid-30s, and I’m a friendly introvert who’s home a lot of the time. I’m an avid cyclist, and I love crosswords, reading, roller skating, and cooking/baking. I occasionally get totally sucked into vapid TV shows. I drink socially on occasion and I don't smoke.
I'm hoping to rent the second bedroom to someone who spends much of their time out and about and is looking for a calm, pleasant home base. I work remotely on a regular basis and my desk is in the common area; because noise travels enough to overhear phone conversations, someone who works exclusively outside the home or otherwise will be out during the workweek would be ideal. Sound travels easily in the apartment, so loud music, frequent guests, or bringing the party home are non-starters. This space could be a good fit for someone who's looking for a short-term place to land when moving to the city or in between other long-term apartments. I'm also open to an arrangement of reduced rent for a subletter who only wants use of the space a certain number of days a month (whether traveling outside the city for work or based elsewhere and making regular visits to the city).
If you think this sounds like a good fit, reach out and tell me more about yourself! If it seems like we might be a good match, we can plan a time for you to come see the space.
First month's rent and security deposit, as well as a few rental references and some indication of financial stability. We would fill out a short sublease agreement.
