Large private room with big comfy bed in peaceful two-bedroom second floor apartment. Free rent, utilities, wifi, in exchange for help with my sweet dog, Ishby.
I'm having hip surgery September 18th. Before then I can do some of her walks and feedings, I'd appreciate help with some of her stuff and someone to stay with her while I go to doctor appointments.
After the 18th I'll need help with all her walks and feedings. She's an adorable, gentle, loving soul. Never ever aggressive with people, and with dogs she only wants to play, but she doesn't like to be barked at. She gets along great with other dogs who are easygoing and don't mind her awkward play style.
(Some dogs here love Ishby, and it's easy to keep her away from the dogs who don't, since it's more spacious than the narrow, crowded streets of Manhattan or Brooklyn.)
We're in eastern Queens, with nearby green spaces, an outdoor mini-gym, near the Queens Farm Museum. It's more quiet and peaceful out here than other parts of NYC.
The apartment has a terrace, office / storage space / closet space, comfy living room, small but big enough kitchen, bathroom with shower and bathtub, and a zillion channels on the TV. There's a TV in the living room and your bedroom, also A/C in the living room and your bedroom. Small washer/dryer in the kitchen, and good water filter.
Public transit accessible to Manhattan / other boroughs. Express buses to Manhattan stop nearby, also buses that go to the F/E train, and the Long Island Railroad Queens Village is apx 3 miles away. During the week some buses drop off right here, later nights and weekends the closest bus stop is apx .4 miles away
Union Turnpike is less than a half mile away, with stores, restaurants, buses. Beautiful Alley Pond Park is nearby.
I have a bike you're welcome to ride.
Second floor apartment, carpeted staircase with railing, one flight of steps up. Grab bars on the doorway and in the bathroom.
Start and end dates can be flexible, main thing is I'll need help around and after September 18th.
Couples are welcome, the room is big enough for two.
I'm respectful, easygoing, and will be profoundly grateful for your help. Mostly I'll be in the back smaller bedroom.
I'm 50 years young, easy to get along with. I don't mind clutter but will keep the common spaces / kitchen clean. I love nature, learning, reading, writing, getting to know interesting people, building bridges between ideas, music, dancing (looking forward to being more active after surgery!), and of course, dogs.
There are some musical instruments here (Vast handpan, Djembe drum, singing bowls, and piano (not recently tuned).
I'm the contact person, usually reachable later afternoons - evenings.
It's a pet-friendly area. If you have a super-chill female dog, she may get along great with Ishby. I like cats but can't have a cat, as my beast does not have cat experience.
