Hey, Sloane here! I'm looking for a long-term place in Brooklyn. I’m moving from Columbus, Ohio where I’ve been working in the service industry as a bartender at a distillery. I also own my own business, writing grants for local artists and small businesses.
I lived in NYC from 2015-2020 as a public school teacher in Brooklyn. My current job in service suits me better, but my paystubs and W-2s don’t show my full income, so it can be tricky to get approved for a lease. I plan to come back to NYC to mix culinary arts and education—starting in service again, with hopes of eventually working in youth food education.
I have support from family, some savings, and income to cover rent. I need a small apartment for myself and my dog, a Mini Australian Shepherd named Lily. She’s well-behaved, kenneled when I’m out, and overall a great companion. I’m looking for a small, unfurnished or semi-furnished place with a budget of around $2,100 a month before utilities. I’m looking for a manageable space that fits my needs and lifestyle, nothing fancy.
PLUSES: outdoor space, washer/dryer, <10 min walk to the train, proximity to grocery stores, ground/first floor.
Looking for subleases 6 months or more, a year would be a dream.
Please reach out if you have a space that might fit!
I’m a 31 year old, queer writer and educator with an invisible disability. I’m fairly extroverted, and I use my living space primarily to recharge after long days socializing and working with occasional small gatherings. I’m responsible, and seek to come to an arrangement that makes sense for both of us. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing from Ohio University and a Master’s in Adolescent Education from CUNY Hunter College. (They/them)
