Seeking a roommate to sublet a room in my 2br/1bath apartment in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. $1300/mo + utilities. Hoping to fill in September but flexible on move-in date -- I am prioritizing a good fit! Minimum 3-month stay. My lease expires at the end of May but I'm hoping to renew.
The place: 1st floor unit in a 3-unit building -- private access to a HUGE backyard (I'm putting in a veggie garden -- fellow gardeners welcome!). Bedrooms are smallish but easily fit my full size bed, dresser, nightstand, and bookshelf (see photos). Room is unfurnished but I do have an air mattress available to lend if desired. The place remains a work-in-progress as I'm hoping to make several upgrades in the near future (furniture improvements, decorations, outdoor furniture, etc.). Spacious kitchen with separate living room. Lots of natural light throughout. 3 blocks from D and N express trains and R local (36 st station) -- quick ride to Manhattan!
The neighborhood: I'm new to this apartment but have lived in Sunset for 12 years -- I love it here! Family-oriented neighborhood with lots of restaurants and a few bars. We're 2 blocks from the park which has a rec center and a free pool! The block is mixed commercial and residential. Giant 24-hour laundromat on the block.
Pets: I love pets, but I love mine the most, and my cat Moonshine has expressly forbade me from welcoming additional animals. She's a great cat. Please be kind to her.
I'm a 38yo woman working full time for NYC Parks. I love to cook and like to occasionally host friends but will provide ample notice/communication. You're welcome to host friends as well!
I'm open to all genders but would prefer someone who primarily works outside the home. Please be courteous and clean up after yourself. I'm not intense about cleanliness, but who doesn't prefer a tidy space? 420 friendly -- I don't regularly stink up the place but I'm done going outside to smoke. Would love someone excited to live with a cat -- like I said, she's pretty great.
Proof of income/financial stability + 2months rent to move in (first + security). Will require applicants to sign a sublet agreement.
