Hello!

We have a medium sized room (11.5' x 10') available in a spacious 3bed 2ba apartment in Queens. The room had a large closet, large window, and a built in AC in the wall. You would share a bathroom with one other person. The room is furnished, and the furniture you see in the room in the pictures is available (bed, mattress, night stand, Ikea shelves, adjustable standing desk, office chair).

3rd floor walkup in a townhouse with 3 other units in the building. Laundry in the basement. There is a parking lot in the back- a spot may or may not be available. The management is responsive with repairs.

The apartment has a large living room, a dining nook, and basic kitchen with enough cabinet space for all of us. All the windows are big and we get plenty of light. Very conveniently located near the E/F train at Kew Gardens Union Turnpike, as well as the LIRR.

Heat and hot water included in the rent (our bills are electricity, internet, and renter's insurance)

Beautiful neighborhood, easily walkable to cafes, Kew Gardens Cinema, CTown, deli, independent book store, gym, public transportation, Queens courthouse, Maple Grove Cemetery, and Forest Park. Very convenient to get to JFK. Quick train ride to Trader Joe's. We are located very near Maple Grove Cemetery and Lefferts Blvd.
About 35 minutes to midtown. Or 17 mins if you take the LIRR.

We are two friends (late 30s-early 40s)- I am an actor, kids' entertainer and teacher, and my housemate works as a therapist.
We have pretty different schedules so we do our own thing, but will often hang out, talk, and watch TV in the evenings. The house is calm and quiet for the most part. Occasionally my housemate practices her guitar at reasonable hours.

We keep the place clean, though we aren't neat freaks- and we clean up after ourselves. We share basic responsibilities like taking out the recycling and garbage.

No pets allowed unfortunately. Look for 1 roommate only. Please no smoking inside.

We are looking for a friendly, communicative, easygoing, and mature person who is LGBTQIA+ friendly and vibes well with us, is at a similar place in life, and would like to commit to a year long lease (at least).

About This Lister

I'm Julie (she/her). I'm a theatre artist, and I also run a kids' entertainment business, and I teach and design curriculum for an after school program. At home you'll find me occasionally recording for my podcast, hanging out and watching Drag Race or something sci fi, or creating something like a Halloween costume or gem clusters for my face painting business. Out of the house I'm working, doing yoga, working on an audio drama script, or rehearsing. Occasionally I'll be abroad for artistic residencies and similar endeavors.

My housemate Kira (she/her) is a psychoanalyst and music lover. You can find her practicing her guitar, playing Dark Souls, or having a therapy session with a client in her room (with noise machine for privacy). She works a lot, and can also be found at music and record stores, or visiting her family in NJ.

We've been friends for over a decade and have been roommates on and off over the years. As of now we've been living together for the past several years, and my other good friend who has also been living with us has decided to move out of New York, hence us needing a new person to take the available room.

It's rare for us to have anyone over or spend the night, but it's not like it's out of the question or anything.

We have good communication, and want someone who is the same way.

Rental requirements

We are looking for someone to renew a one year lease with us which starts Feb 1. However, the room will actually be available as of mid-December (for sublet until the lease starts), with some flexibility for move in date. The lease renewal will need to be signed by all of us by mid-December though.

There is an application, and proof of income is required. As well as a security deposit ($1010).

The rent is $1010/mo, and bills come out to about $40-$70 per person per month depending on the time of year.
